Real fun at #MTNCelebdouble Invasion Party: MTN Ambs. appear in double
4/8/2014 10:19:00 AM

Lagos, Benin and Enugu witnessed real fun last weekend when the #MTNCelebdouble finally produced the company's ambassadors' look-alikes. It was hard to differentiate between most of the musical superstars and their close splitting images.

This resulted in momentary suspense, mixed with fun, as the hundreds of musical fans who thronged to the separate clubs, to be part of the Invasion, struggled to spot out the real image. The fans were thrilled to meet their idolised celebrities and the 'doubles'. Continue...

In Lagos, precisely, at the 'The Place', the confusion of those present was exciting. While the music blasted away, Don Jazzy, Iyanya, Tiwa Savage and Chidinma walked in. The crowd was soon amazed as the striking resemblances of Davido, Wizkid, Praiz and D'Prince stepped in behind them. There were minutes of debates if they were the real ambassadors or the look-alikes they have come to party with it.

Wizkid's double, Mbaefo Stanley, who resides in Port Harcourt, could not hold his joy at the sight of the celebrities and pomp around him. He expressed cheerfully, 'this is one of my best nights'.
Like him, Ogbonna John who resides in Lagos, was ecstatic. He said, 'I have always dreamed of this moments'. Also, David Fortune, D'Prince's double and Odeka Arthur who looked perfectly like the Nigerian R & B singer and Headies Award winner, Praiz, said they would treasure the night for a long time.

Meanwhile, Iyanya, who wore a new look, enthusiastically appreciated the large turn-out, saying it gave him satisfaction to party with Nigerian musical fans and find someone who looked him. Don Jazzy and Tiwa Savage also expressed the same feeling while leaving the club located on Adeola Odeku, at the early hour of the morning.

In Benin, the celebdoubles bore an unbelievable resemblance to the actual celebs themselves. Prior to the actual party, they had been lodged in a luxurious hotel, taken on a shopping spree, given a high-class spa treatment, and spoilt silly.

One of the Celebdoubles was Adeoye Foyinsade who bears a striking resemblance to Tiwa Savage. She gushed over the entire privileges accorded her by MTN. "I really didn't expect that it'd be this cool! Not only do I look like Tiwa Savage, from the way I have been treated all day, I think I might be her! Hanging out with everyone here caps it up nicely".

Similar experience was recorded in Enugu. Harrysong and Praiz were at the Toscana Hotel, the venue which hosted a massive crowd of fans who relived their fantasies of becoming those they idolized.

The two MTN ambassadors Praiz and Harrysong, performed some of their hit songs that made them so endearing. To crown it Praiz joked: "When I saw someone looking so much like me, I actually thought he was me, the semblance was on point".

Arik apologizes to passengers on flight from LOS-JFK on March 31st
4/8/2014 10:08:00 AM

On March 31th, passengers on an Arik flight from Lagos to New York were subjected to hardship as there was almost an hour flight delayed departure plus the airplane's air condition was not working, leading to passengers protesting on board. The Airline company has issued a statement this morning apologizing for the discomfort and inconvenience. Their statement below...
To all guest who travelled on flight W3107 (from Lagos, Nigeria to JFK, New York) on 31st March 2014, Arik Air offers an unconditional apology, for the inconvenience and discomfort caused by both the 55 minute delayed flight departure and the failure of the airplane's air-conditioning system prior to said departure. Continue...

In this regard, the experienced schedule delay was a result of complications related to the cargo loading process as managed by Arik Air's contracted ground-handling agent. Unfortunately, whilst efforts were rightly being expended to overcome the cargo loading difficulties, the backup air conditioning unit (which should have been provided by our ground handling agent) was declared unserviceable and thus unavailable for use.  Upon resolution of the cargo loading difficulties, the air-conditioning system was finally restored as the aircraft prepared for immediate departure under its own engine power.

Arik Air, and its Management, acknowledges that the handling of the situation on board was less than satisfactory and falls well short of the high standards of service that its esteemed travelling guest have come to expect of us (and which we demand of ourselves).  Arik Air's Management wishes to assure our esteemed guests that the necessary remedial measures have been initiated to prevent the repetition of such an incident to the extent possible/controllable.

Arik Air is committed to providing a safe and comfortable air transport service to every guest and on every journey. Arik Air wishes to thank all guests who endured this inconvenience patiently, despite both the trying circumstance and the unfortunate exhibition of aggression, to both people and property, by a minority of unruly passengers onboard the aircraft.

Arik Air values, greatly, its relationship with her guest.  Hence, to all the affected guests, please note that we intend to pursue the restoration of the trust and faith vested in us by your good-selves.  In this respect, Arik Air shall be contacting each affected guest on flight W3107 31st March 2014, to express these sentiments (and seek such restitution of trust) individually.

Once again, please accept our humble and sincere apologies. You and your patronage are dear to us.  We exist to serve you and we look forward to doing so again in the near future.

For and on behalf of
The Management Team

4/8/2014 11:56:00 AM

It's Episode 12 of The Knorr Taste Quest, and the heat in the kitchen was turned down just a little. In this episode, the judges; Dr. Roberts, Chef Fregz, and Chef Renee decided to take the reins, and once again display their culinary prowess as they trained the 7 remaining contestantson exactly how to prepare desserts using ingredients the contestants were given in the last couple of tasks. Continue...

The desserts made were;Apple pie and Pomegranates, Shortbread, Pastry rolls, Bread and Butter Pudding, Apple turnover, Apple brittle, Poached Pear boiled in Red Wine and Knorr Classic, Poached Pear andChocolate Sauce, amongst others. Chief amongst the ingredients used were; Basmati Rice, Garri, Mangoes, Knorr Classic, Apples, Pear, Cucumber, Carrots, Milk, Pomegranates, Cashewnuts, Butter, Egg,and Sugar. What an interesting culinary education!!

Another highlight to this episode was the training on the use of the Kenwood Kitchen Equipment's. The judges illustrated the many ways to use the Kenwood Kitchen equipment's easily. The Kenwood Rice Cooker, Kenwood Kitchen machine and the Kenwood Food Processor were among the ingenious labour-saving equipment used to make the cooking process faster, and easier. For example, the Kenwood Food processor can be used as a juicer, blender, cutter, shredder etc., and the Kenwood Kitchen Machine can whip cream, whisk eggs, grind meat, and a whole lot more. These made the work of the judges and contestants very easy as they finished in record time, and their dishes of good quality.

The ingredients are getting tougher with each week, and now that the contestants have been taught and assisted by the judges, the next episode promises to be more challenging and we mayeven see some contestants evicted.

3 females, and 4 males left, do you think we can have a female winner this season? The grand finale is drawing near, so don't miss out on the excitement, join other food lovers on www.facebook.com/KnorrNigeria. You can also watch missed episodes on www.Youtube.com/KnorrNigeria.

A LIB reader sent in the pics and wrote...
This was late yesterday evening at about 9.40pm at GDC in Port Harcourt. I was sitting at the eatery, when we got a glimpse of it, terrorizing everyone in there running all over the place, typical Nigerians, people were still ordering food, attendants paid no mind to it and everyone was laughing, a man and his kids were making a video, no one was consigned about their health but who am I kidding, I had a good laugh about it all with my friend and enjoyed our great country Nigeria for having no care about health safety.

Aircraft with 57 passengers, including Ladoja & CONFAB delegates, makes air return
4/8/2014 10:32:00 AM

Former Oyo State Governor Rasheed Ladoja, some serving Senators, members of the National Conference who were returning to Abuja yesterday were among those onboard an Overland aircraft with registration Number 5NBPE that had to make a quick detour after the pilot noticed a crack on the windshield of the aircraft. The aircraft took off from Ibadan Airport in Oyo state and was heading to Abuja when the pilot noticed a cracked windshield as they entered into Minna, Niger state airspace. Continue...

As a precautive measure, he quickly made a detour to the Muritala Mohammed Airport Lagos to forestall any unfortunate incident.

The plane landed safely in Lagos and the passengers after several hours of waiting were conveyed into another plane which had returned from Enugu.

A statement released by Nigerian Airspace Management Authority confirmed the incident. The statement reads in part;
"There is no cause for alarm as the diversion  was precautionary and this conforms with the basic safety norms of the industry," NAMA declared
Reacting to the development,Chairman, Airline Operators of Nigeria, Capt. Nogie Meggison, showed gratitude to God and also said that a broken windshield would not have caused a plane to crash.
"Let us thank God first that we did not have a crash, which technically would not have happened with a cracked outer pane of the aircraft. A lot of reasons can cause the crack and one of them is the impact of take-off or landing. The pilot might have returned to Lagos because that is where the operational headquarters of his company is located, and more importantly, that is the only place where the minor fault can be fixed. The pane is not an ordinary glass. It has several layers with mercury in-between." he said.
