Police nab Ernest Nwankwo, pastor accused of running a ritualists' den

Ernest Nwankwo, the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry, a.k.a House of Mercy, located in the Ogolonto area of Ikorodu, Lagos, who allegedly runs a ritualists' den, has finally been arrested by the Nigerian police almost a week after he escaped following the arrest of one of his church members who was caught trying to kidnap her neighbour's 7 year old son. The woman, Rosemary Chukwu, claimed her pastor had sent her to kidnap the boy for ritual purpose.

According to Vanguard, Nwankwo, who was arrested around Ebute Metta area of Lagos yesterday, is currently at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos.

Nwankwo has since denied that the building on Oshodi Street in Ikorodu where eight victims were found is a ritualists' den. He said the building was used to keep lunatics.

 

Bomb blast reported in Maiduguri market

Sahara Reporters is reporting that a bomb exploded at a busy market in Maiduguri, Borno state. The report doesn't specify if it happened this morning or yesterday morning. Report below...

A bomb has exploded at the busy Monday Market in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that the bomb went off during a busy morning at vicinity of the market. The number of casualties could not be immediately verified as security agencies arrive the scene to secure the market.

 A Borno government state government official confirmed the blast saying the causality number is very high but stated that security agencies are working to secure the area and rescue victims. Today's bombing would be the first major bombing by Islamist sect Boko Haram since the beginning of the Ramadan
