Upcoming singer Password wins N10m Porsche Cayman, signs to Mavin Records

After struggling as an upcoming act, songwriter and producer Patrick Mathias better known asPassword has finally gotten his well deserved break. The talented act has been announced as winner of the MTN Songstar competition, walking away with a brand new Porshce and recording deal.

The online-based competition which was announced over two months ago saw thousands of Nigerians send in their entries via an interactive app. But Password was on Thursday, December 5, 2013 unveiled as the winner of the competition.

As promised, the singer was awarded with a Porsche Cayman worth N10m and bagged a recording deal with Don Jazzy‘s Mavin Records.

Trivia: Password is credited as being the original composer of Davido’s smash hit song ‘Gobe‘.

In this new interview, Don Jazzy answered the big question everyone has been directing at him, since a lot of his colleagues have started getting married. Find his response below.

That one, I don't know o! You people are going to ask God. When God gives me the liver to be able to propose. I have trust issues, I'm scared of relationships. I have been scared of relationships for a long time, until Onome came o. See, I'm very very dangerous in the sense that my mind can change sometimes. For instance, a lot of people used to think that I like people with big hips and big nyansh – big–figured people. But I woke up one morning and everything changed. I'm a totally different person now and I like my women straight up from the runway – Lepa to bad (Smiles). Some of my friends say I'm having midlife crisis, but that's what I like now.

So, I might just be saying I don't know when I'm going to get married, but all of the sudden you'll hear that I've gotten married. I like my privacy, so I might just get married and you'd hear that I got married three months ago or something like that. It's not like I don't want people to come for my wedding o! It's just that I don't like the story. You people can do the party after the wedding (Laughs). I believe in jinxing. I don't want a situation where I will tell you people “oh! This is Onome and this is when I want to get married”. I have done that in the past, introducing my girlfriend, but people would just jinx it for us because they will just put their eyes on our thing and it might just spoil things. So much pressure. VIDEO: WANDE COAL OPENS UP "I WAS NEVER SIGNED TO MAVIN RECORDS

Wande Coal has confirmed he was never signed to the Don Jazzy led label.

In an interview with Adesope Olajide on Vox Africa along with DJ Abrantee and Yvonne Nelson, Wande Coal revealed that he was never signed to Mavin Rercords after his former label Mo’Hits Records folded up

‘There’s no beef, there’s nothing so, I mean the song babyface was supposed to be on my album but since we fell out. I was just there, it was void [be]cause I didn’t have any contract’, Wande Coal replied, addressing the recent controversy over his new single ‘Babyface’.

Don Jazzy had earlier accused Wande of stealing the song, which he claims he owns. Days after a Twitter spat between the popular artistes, Mavin Records released a statement announcing Wande’s exit from the label.

Wande went on talk about why he started off his Black Diamond Entertainment label.

‘Everybody knows I’m Black Diamond; I’ve been with Don Jazzy for a while now. It was something I really wanted to do so I just decided to start my own outfit’, Wande said.

We are told that none of the Mavin Records artistes are signed to the label and are all working in ‘good faith’ for now.

Both Mavin Records and Wande Coal have enjoyed a remarkable run in the course of their working relationship. It is unfortunate that conflicting priorities contributed to the premature curtailment of a hitherto fruitful accord.
