REVIEW: Olamide - Baddest Guy Ever Liveth

1. Intro ft Do_2D_Tun: 4/10

I have heard better intros this year, to be honest, i wasn't geeked to hear what was coming after this intro just from listening to it. It didn't serve the purpose, which was to prepare you what you about to hear. Might be the noisiest intro i have ever heard on a Nigerian album. I'll take YBNL's intro over this one. Disappointing intro.

2. Esupofo: 8/10

 This song is beautiful! There has been alot of controversy about Olamide being a noisy rapper. This track is way different from that, the entire opposite. Beat was right, mid-tempo, the melody is up there for me, hook was sweet. The concept of this song is part "appreciation", part "started from the bottom" and i have to say he pulled it off. Bigups to Pheelz on this one.

3. Rep Adugbo ft Buckwylla & Pheelz: 6/10

This is supposed to be a street anthem but i strongly think its below standard to be called a street anthem. General Pype would have been a better option instead of Buckwyla but i can understand Olamide trying to put his YBNL Boys on the radar too. I would have preferred someone other than him with the introductory verse. Compare this song to Champion Remix featuring DaGrin, Sasha, Vector, Naeto C & GT da Guitarman, the different is very clear. Maybe he could have gotten more help with this one, but for me it's average.

4. Anifowose: 8/10

A song about the struggle, everyone who has been through that ground zero spot can relate to this one faster. I love the way he sampled Kwam1's voice. Could have been a little bit more mellow than it is now so you feel the intensity of the track as a whole, but it's still a good song. I like it. Fasashi Fasashi you rocking versace your mommy is hungry oloshi. Lol i loved that line.

5. Skammer ft Pele Pele: 6/10

First time i heard Pele Pele on Sinner Man i was impressed, once again i am impressed. Fast paced song, however nothing serious about this song as a whole, regular Olamide delivery.

6. Eleda Mi O: 6.5/10

Olamide decided to show off his hook/singing skills on this one, to me not a really rap song. That mid-tempo jolly music. Another song from a rapper about having haters and rising above the hate, I'm sure we have heard this over and over from every single rapper out there so its nothing new. An album filler for me, nothing special about the song. Just another Olamide song.

7. Baddo Love: 5/10 

When this song came out i felt like Olamide is running out of ideas, and till now i still don't see anything spectacular about it. It sounds very unrefined. Olamide is not a singer and could have gotten help with this one from an R&B artiste. This is definitely one of the worst songs on the album, at a point it got really noisy and disorganized.

8. Position Yourself: 6/10

Another average song off the album. Sounds like another version of Stupid Love featuring Samklef. Same ish different air freshener.

9. Skit ft Ketchup

10. Gbadun Arawa: 6/10

What's up with Olamide and these love songs? Here's another one, same direction; i'm beginning to think his Genre is R&B. Nothing spectacular, decent beat.

11. Motivation ft Endia, Ice Prince & Pepenazi : 7.5/10

Pepenazi owned this track, Endia also came through. The Olamide on YBNL album would have delivered neatly on a beat like this, he went missing with his rhymes, Ice Prince did ok. This is suppose to be a track to motivate you but can pass the noise test.

12. Church: 8/10

Olamide came through here, the line dropping Olamide. The production is also top notch, the beat alone get you to move. Easy to get the message this tune, Pheelz came correct! "Kosi Ja Ni Church"

13.Sitting On The Throne: 7.5/10 

One thing you notice right way is the beat. Olamide decided to use "style style" set records straight that he got no beef with M.I. His lines, delivery and the message goes hand in hand. Something expected from Olamide, his flow here is also commendable. I'm thinking Pheelz is a better Hip Hop producer than just dance tunes.

14. Mu Emu: 7/10

Just another song that is a bit above average for me. Because there is nothing stimulating about this song, you can forget about it easily.

15. Turn Up: 8/10

Everything about this song just gives me super life. It would be nice to see the crowd go buyaka to this right here. "Jeje lomo eko nlo" definitely one of my favorite on the album.

16. King Shii: 6.5/10

17. Durosoke: 9.5/10

Still the best song on the whole album. When this single dropped, it was the first time i would see Olamide switch between regular yoruba and much deeper yoruba (Ibadan dialect), something he did again on the album in the song Dope Money with Phyno. This song became an anthem very quick, anywhere you hear it being played people tend to sing along. Razz is the new cool. One of the biggest songs of 2013 no doubt. 

18. Dope Money ft Phyno: 9/10

This is the hardest song on the album. This is a very different side of Olamide i haven't seen before. He was going off. The delivery was top notch. He was flowing in some real traditional Ijebu dialect i didn't believe it was Olamide i was listening to at first. Another dope beat from Pheelz. Olamide x Phyno collaboration seems to be very successful yet again, they both seems to understand each other, 2 different rappers from different ends of the country. Phyno's delivery was up there too. Overall, dope money was a dope track.

19. Yemi My Lover: 7/10

Another good song off the album. Olamide decided to rap about women who refuse to stand by their men during the struggle but are quick to "famz" when things are sweet and blooming. Very consistent lyrics i must say. He also laced the hook with decent vocals. I like this one. 

20. Rayban Abacha: 8/10

The first time i heard this beat, i knew Pheelz was a monster. This beat is seriously hard. Got the American rap style feel to it and Olamide didn't disappoint with his delivery, i would just like if he toned down on the noise. His music would be much better without it.

21.  Higher ft Bez: 5/10

Falls short. Below par. Very basic collaboration with nothing special at all. Nothing to say about this rather than "It's Just Ok"

I admire Olamide's effort to try and bring his YBNL guys on this album, give them some buzz and make the whole project an In-house thing, the likes of Pele Pele, Pheelz, Buckwyla and co, however i have to say that this album is far below standard, disappointing and below expectation. The album's concept was very confusing, with an unstable rhythm. This album is like holding a machine gun and firing it anywhere and everywhere without any particular target, just wasting bullets. Album was disorganized, noisy in some parts, lacked cohesion and freshness. YBNL is better than this in my opinion. At a point the songs started sounding the same, you can almost feel like he is running out of ideas. You just play the next song with no hope of hearing anything spectacular or intriguing. Olamide has a lot of singles out there, with very little time interval between the time he dropped each song. He makes good music but there is little time to enjoy one song before he brings out another, and that really made this album less inviting, as there was nothing new to look forward to. Very average project from an artiste of his caliber.

REVIEW: BrymO - Merchants, Dealers & Slaves

I thought of different ways to write about this album, and the best thing I came up with was to write based on how I felt after listening to Merchants, Dealers & Slaves. But before I go into that, let me warn you that if you are into “pangolo” music, you know – noise, sounds made by someone who sold their soul to Lucifer and now has to avoid his nightly phone calls begging for a refund, don’t read this review. Just exit this page now.



Music should make you feel, charge your emotions listening – reinforce or change them, you realized you’re not in the same mood you were when you started listening to it, which means the goal has been achieved. It’s almost like a spiritual experience. I think I had stars in my eyes the first time I listened. That was what Merchants, Dealers & Slaves did to me.



I wasn’t going to really talk about individual tracks, and all the tracks on this album are great, but some notable mentions are – Track 1 – Truthfully, which is romantic, and Brymo’s vocals leads the sensuality that the lyrics require.  Track 2 – Money is the best song on this album. I said that because it happens to be my favorite on the album. If you’re a big fan of instrumentals like I am, you will appreciate this one. Track 3 – Dear Titilope ushers in one of the biggest hits on the album, which is Track 4 – Eko. Track 2 and 3 made me understand why a fan said this album reminded him a lot of Fela. You know there is no Afrobeat without jazz, funk, highlife and vocals blended with percussion. Brymo gave us all of that and more on this album. I bet Fela is smiling at him right now.



We all know how great Fela is, and for an artist in this century to be compared to a legend, is a pretty big deal. Track 5 – Grand Pa is a track that talks about his Grand father and his non-chalant way of living and now he is running out of timer because he is getting older. Another track that I really love is Track 10 – Se Bo’ Timo. The “street” translation for that is “Do You.” The message that this song passes along is for us to know who we are, who our true friends are. So, don’t be fooled because no matter how perfect you think you are, whoever will praise you, will. The ones, who will criticize you, will. Even when you fall, you are all you’ve got, so get back up and keep on moving. Life is not that hard when you’re clear about your purpose and your priorities. And that’s just to name a few. This is not an album you listen to and skip tracks.



From what I read online, this is actually his third album. I didn’t even know he had an album before “Son of a Kapenta”, his second album, which was a pretty decent album but it didn’t get the publicity that it deserved. I’m not sure why he left Chocolate City, and a lot of us even felt like he didn't reach his full potential while he was under that label, but now Brymo has chosen the perfect time to spread his wings. There’s much more to him than an excellent voice. This album is worthy of the praises it’s likely to receive, and has been receiving.



Brymo has found it within himself to make music that’s genuinely beautiful, classic and progressive. I don’t think anyone has ever doubted him as an artist, I haven’t, but now it is even more obvious that Brymo is an artist with quite a bit to say.



So, as you listen to Merchants, Dealers and Slaves, close your eyes and float along because it is bound to take you to that place of eternity. There are albums that are ultimately just nice and safe, and we also have albums that will make you look up and say “Damn! That was freaking amazing!” Merchants, Dealers & Slaves is one of those albums.

Olamide Releases Album Art, Release Date For Sophomore Album

Wow! Olamide the Baddo just released the album art for his sophomore album, “Baddest Guy Ever Liveth”. It’s a very nice full picture of Olamide in a Roman outfit, probably being Ceasar and he has a look of euphoria on his face.

The album is slated for a November 7th release. Make sure you cop it when it drops...

Stating the fact that ‘Samklef’ was dropping his album on the same day (today)… he definitely doesn’t want any divided attention.. A new date would be announced soon.

Singer Kcee Announces His First Solo Album Release Date

Limpopo master was on Ray Power FM 100.5 (Prime Time Africa) days back and the singer announced that he will be dropping his debut album as a solo artiste after the break-up with PRESH his former group member; on November 1 2013.

A couple of his hit singles such as Okpekete, Limpopo, Okoso, Pull over and Give To Me are definitely going to be on the album.

The 5star music artiste is gracing different shows all over the globe and also acquiring expensive possessions along the way.

KCee also revealed how Ace Nigerian Rapper Idris Abdulkareem influenced his music career.

If you remember, Kcee and Presh were the first music artiste to win the STAR QUEST music reality show in year 2000.

He further stress that for more details about his album, his fans should listen to Ray power FM.
