HKN Music might be blowing her trumpet about signing producer Josh Beatz but information arising on the subject matter! All the juicy details in this revealing press release issued by Born Winners Empire (BWE):
Our attention has been drawn to the false and persistent claim by members of HKN Music that young music producer – Joshua Boafo a.k.a JOSHBeatz, is signed to HKN.Contrary to this, We wish to clarify that ‘JoshBeatz’ is officially signed on to Born Winners Empire (BWE) as in-house producer. All contractual obligations on the part of Born Winners Empire have been fulfilled till date. JoshBeatz is expected to produce a Mixtape under BWE. Be it also known that as at this moment JoshBeatz is still living in BWE premises in Lekki.

This came as an embarrassment and sad surprise to us because Davido is well aware that JoshBeatz is on a valid contract with BWE, he and his crew have visited our Lekki office / studios a few times when JoshBeatz recorded him on a track for the JoshBeatz mixtape.

We have utmost respect for Davido and HKN, and we contacted them to verify the situation, but they said it was just a random casual tweet by Davido and they have no interest in signing the young producer. Yet we continued to observe a manipulative and deceitful under-the table approach to woo our artist/producer.
HKN further went ahead last week to release recorded materials produced by JoshBeatz whom they tagged ‘HKN newly signed producer”.

Music business is Serious business, and there are rules to the trade. We must put a stop to this hell-destined ‘Hustle and Blow’ mentality and observe mutual respect as music business professionals.
In an industry that is constantly faced with flagrant disregard and abuse of contractual commitment, it is disappointing that even well established record labels will now manipulate and conspire with Artistes to breach contracts. Its a shame indeed.

In view of the above, the management of BWE finds JoshBeatz’s disloyalty and embarrassment totally unacceptable, and has opted to Terminate his (JoshBeatz) contract forthwith. We are not asking for any damages, and we do not wish to be drawn into controversies with anyone.

2face, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Ice Prince, Iyanya lose out at Channel O Music Video Awards 2013

For the first time in many years, Nigeria has failed to dominate the Channel O Music Video Awardswith the likes of heavyweights 2face, Tiwa Savage, Davido and Ice Prince all losing out.

Other Nigerians who lost out this year include Naeto C, D’Prince, Chidinma, Jesse Jagz, Lola Rae, Burna Boy and Iyanya.

The awards show which held on November 30, 2013 at Walter Sisulu Square, in Kliptown Soweto saw Pop duo Psquare and EME boss Banky W, walking away with the awards for ‘Most Gifted African (West) Video‘ and ‘Most Gifted RnB Video‘ respectively.

Wizkid won the biggest award of the night ‘Most Gifted Video of the Year‘ beating Psquare, Ice Prince, R2Bees, Mafikizolo, Fuse ODG and six others.

Iyanya Bounced at Davido’s Exclusive 21st Birthday Party

Reports and multiple sources have confirmed that Iyanya was refused entry to Davido’s 21st birthday party. As Terry G, Tonto Dikeh, B-Red, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Shank, Vixen, Shizzi, Danagog, Patoranking, DJ Caise, DJ Spinall, Ill Rhymz and Sasha P were partying like there is no tomorrow, Iyanya was busy dealing with security at the gate of the venue. “That question has left many tongues wagging. Iyanya was bounced at Davido’s 21st birthday party which held at Pavada Lounge Thursday night.
Witnesses said, most people who weren’t invited where not allowed to get in, and if you must, you must call one of the HKN group members, who will come out and take you in.
Most people who felt they should be in, called Kamal, a member of Davido’s group who was always in and out taking guests in.
But when Iyanya got to the entrance, the bouncers said he couldn’t get it.People around told them it was Iyanya, but the bouncers still refused and said if he must get in, he should call Davido or Kamal.
Iyanya tried making a call, but no one picked, he got angry nodding his head as he left. A lot of people didn’t understand what was going on and it soon became a hot topic among guests at the party. Now, this is an inside gist and it’s so true.”

Davido Says He Doesn’t Charge For Collaborations

The question of how much Nigerian superstars charge for collaborations have been asked one too many times by upcoming acts who wishes to do some work with them.

Davido is one of the highly sorted acts. The 20 year old star revealed the amount he charges on his Twitter page earlier after a fan claimed you need to have booked 365-days prior to collaboration date.

Davido, Wizkid & Olamide Signs Multi-Million Naira Endorsement Deal with Guinness Nigeria

Guess who is smiling to the bank today, or should I say are? Davido, Wizkid and Olamide! 2013 is sure a great year for Nigerian artistes with titans like Iyanya, Omawumi and M.I signs endorsement deals left, right and centre.
Rapper Olamide, Wizkid and Davido have just been signed as the brand ambassadors for Guinness Nigeria; we do not know the exact figures but the deal is worth millions.

The excited artistes took their Instagram pages some minutes ago to share the good news while industry icon Tola Odunsi posted a picture of Wizkid, Godwin and himself breaking the news with the caption “New deal #Guinnessthinz”. Davido – The new ‘Skelewu’ video sucks + Director Moe Musa is a creative thief

When Davido announced he was going to shoot another ‘Skelewu’ video to be released in five days time following a controversial leak of the first shoot, he wasn’t joking.

The official version was released as promised on Monday, October 21, 2013. It was shot in the UK directed by budding D.O.P Mr Moe Musa. Davido and Mr Moe Musa should however be given the award for ‘creative crooks’ of the year as the concept of ‘Skelewu’ is a stolen creative concept.

Who remembers Pop duo LMFAO‘s 2011′s ‘Party rock anthem‘ video? Let’s refresh your memory; The video starts with RedFoo and SkyBlu waking up from a coma in the hospital, hitting the streets to notice the town has been deserted. Just when they get on the road, someone comes to warn them about a song that has caused a frenzy in the town, then a bunch of crazy dancers get close to them and start dancing, LMFAO later join the dance.

The above description just about sums up Davido’s ‘Skelewu‘ video too; Davido waking up from a coma, hitting the streets to be warned by a young man bla bla bla…

What was director Mr Moe Musa thinking? That there was no MTV or YouTube in Nigeria back in 2011? Not only should he be berated for this unacceptable creative plagiarism, he should be visited by LMFAO’s label Interscope Records with a lawsuit.

There is no mention of Moe Musa borrowing the concept or paying homage to LMFAO. The official release from Davido’s publicist WildFlower PR states, ‘HKN Music presents Davido in a revolutionary movie showing the viral effect of the ‘Skelewu’. Revolutionary indeed!
