‘My album is the best ever’, Jesse Jagz boasts

Jesse Jagz thinks his second album ‘Jagz Nation Vol. 1, Thy Album Come’ is the best album ever released.

The eclectic Nigerian artiste made the proclamation last month while performing at his ‘The Jesse Jagz Experience’ free music concert at the New Afrika Shrine.

Jesse was performing on stage with rapper Kahli Abdu when the latter uttered to the crowd ‘My man Jesse’s dropped the best album this year’, when Jesse cut in and said ‘No, the best album ever, ever!’.

The album was released under his own ‘Jagz Nation’imprint.

The album has received rave reviews from music critics and fans and might just be the best Nigerian album released this year. But sales figures are nothing to write home about.

“I love Davido’s music, he’ll go very far” – Chelsea striker, Samuel Eto’o

Chelsea striker and four-time African Footballer of the Year, Samuel Eto’o Fils, has revealed that he is a big fan of Davido’s music.

The 32-year-old footballer linked up with Nigerian pop star in London, where he danced to his viral single, Skelewu.

Davido took to Twitter to share his excitement at meeting the Cameroon international, while Eto’o also wrote: “Had a great time with my lil bro @iam_davido! Very talented artist. He’ll go very far. I love his music #skelewu”

Nigerian Idol season 2 winner Mercy Chinwo yet to receive N7.5m recording contract one year after

Over a year after winning the second season of Nigerian Idol, singer Mecry Chinwo is yet to be given her N7.5m recording contract.

‘As I speak to you, I’m one-man standing. I am not in any record label, I am alone. I have to say the truth. I am not or was never tied to nay record label‘, the Port Harcourt-born singer told Encomium Weekly last week. She however confirmed receiving the N7.5m cash prize.

Franchise owners of Nigerian Idol, Optima Media Group (OMG) had announced that the winner of the talent show would go home with the overall prize of a recording contract, an SUV and a mouth-watering cash of prize of $100,000 (N7.5m). The show was sponsored by Etisalat and Pepsi.

NET could not establish contact with OMG as a rep for the media company refused to pick our phone calls and reply text messages.

Mercy’s case isn’t the same with season three winner Moses Obi-Adigwe who says everything OMG promised has been delivered. ‘Yes I got the money and my contract, everything is okay‘, Moses told Nigerian Entertainment Today in a telephone chat. The singer says he has received his N7.5m cash prize and has released three new singles.

Apparently, Moses’ recording contract is with OMG who recently setup their own label. Moses says he is more relaxed working with OMG than any other label as they would ‘have time’ for him.

At ‘The Jesse Jagz Experience’ free music concert which held last month at the New Afrika Shrine, Lagos, the music maker took time to explain his weed smoking habit and how it doesn’t concern anybody.

‘This one’s for the blogs. You people keep reporting about me smoking marijuana, chastising me for smoking is just another form of racism’, Jesse Jagz blurted out in between performance.
He then went on a rant about how he did not ‘find it anyone’s business’ because he patronised the green leaf calling it ‘grass’ created by God himself.

All i can say is although it has an effect on his style of music, he got a channel O nomination out of it which he might not have gotten if it was just straight-out hip-hop.

OREZI WAS NEVER SIGNED TO DAVIDO'S HKN GANG

Contrary to the news that budding singer Orezi has signed a deal with Davido‘s HKN Gang, NET investigations reveal that the Pop singer is yet to put pen to paper for any deal and that there might be a possibility he won’t.

In May 2013, Davido revealed Orezi as the newly signed act to his HKN Gang record label. This was shortly after he and Orezi had hinted fans on social media Twitter on a possible signing.

Orezi tweeted; ‘About to make a big career decision !! Change is the only constant thing in lyf .. Lord see me tru’.

Davido was quite excited to announce the signing too. ’I just signed my new artiste but you guys may know him…Orezi, welcome to the team homeboy‘, he announced back in May.

But sources close to Orezi have confirmed to us that there were never any concrete talks on the signing which ultimately yielded into talks going in limbo.

NET has learnt that Orezi who quit his working relationship with former label Cullbeed Music is currently signed to Sprisal Records being backed by one of the sons of late Oil and Petroleum mogul at FATGBEMS Petroleum, Alhaji Fatai Gbemisola.

Just like Cullbeed Music boss Kolade ‘Ronkay’ Ajayi’s heavy spending, Orezi will be receiving massive financial support once again. Orezi who completed his University education last year and participated in the National Youth Corp Service this year is currently in South Africa doing some club rounds and is expected to return to Nigeria any moment from now.

‘Orezi was never signed to HKN, it was just verbal, an understanding. He is signed to Sprisal Records‘, Orezi’s current manager Ayodeji told NET over the phone.

Sprisal has already gone on to shoot a high budget video for Orezi’s new single ‘Rihanna‘ and are working on his long awaited debut album.

When contacted, a rep for HKN Gang confirmed that Orezi has not been signed to the label as previously announced.

‘HKN Music believes that Orezi is an incredibly talented act. He is one of the acts who we would like to be signed formally unto the label in October. Already Orezi and his management have been reviewing a contract with HKN Music’s legal team. The terms haven’t been concluded as we speak‘, a rep for HKN told Nigerian Entertainment Today .

It was also revealed that two other artistes touted as HKN Gang recording artistes: pop artiste Danagogand Ghanaian act Deekay have also not been officially signed.
